Decreto n.º 10/2020
de 1 de dezembro
Sumário: Declara luto nacional por um dia pelo falecimento de Eduardo Lourenço.
Eduardo Lourenço foi um dos mais destacados pensadores da cultura portuguesa contemporânea.
Professor, ensaísta e filósofo, estudou e exerceu a docência em inúmeras universidades de ambos os lados do Atlântico, designadamente em Portugal, Alemanha, França e no Brasil.
Autor de vasta obra, os seus livros sobre a literatura portuguesa, o mundo de língua portuguesa, a relação entre Portugal e a Europa e tantos outros temas constituem marcos incontornáveis para todos quantos querem compreender a história e o presente de Portugal.
Eduardo Lourenço foi agraciado com inúmeras distinções e condecorações em Portugal e no estrangeiro, das quais se destacam o Prémio Camões (1996), o Prémio Pessoa (2011), os doutoramentos honoris causa pelas Universidades do Rio de Janeiro (1995), de Coimbra (1996), Nova de Lisboa (1998) e de Bolonha (2007) ou a criação da Cátedra Eduardo Lourenço de História da Cultura Portuguesa nesta última Universidade.
Cidadão de elevadíssima craveira intelectual e cívica, Eduardo Lourenço dedicou-se empenhadamente a pensar o seu país, tendo integrado em 2016 o Conselho de Estado, designado pelo Presidente da República.
Como justa homenagem a Eduardo Lourenço, falecido a 1 de dezembro de 2020, entende o Governo declarar o luto nacional por um dia.
Assim:
Nos termos da alínea j) do n.º 1 do artigo 197.º e da alínea g) do n.º 1 do artigo 200.º da Constituição e dos n.os 1 e 3 do artigo 42.º da Lei n.º 40/2006, de 25 de agosto, o Governo decreta o seguinte:

Luto nacional
É declarado o luto nacional no dia 2 de dezembro de 2020.
Artigo 2.º
Produção de efeitos
O presente decreto reporta os seus efeitos à data da sua aprovação.
