Aviso n.º 177/97 Por ordem superior se torna público que, por nota de 18 de Fevereiro de 1997 e agindo na sua qualidade de depositário da Convenção de Viena sobre Relações Consulares, concluída em Viena em 24 de Abril de 1963, o Secretário-Geral das Nações Unidas comunicou terem os Governos de Myanmar e da Eritreia depositado os seus instrumentos de adesão à mencionada Convenção em 2 e 14 de Janeiro de 1997, respectivamente.

O instrumento de adesão pelo Governo de Myanmar era acompanhado pelas seguintes reservas e declaração: 'Reservations on article 35, paragraph 1, and article 58, paragraphs 1 and 2, of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, 1963 With regard to article 35, paragraph 1, and article 58, paragraph 1, concerning the freedom of communication, the Government of the Union of Myanmar shall not accord to consular posts headed by honorary consular officers the right to employ diplomatic or consular couriers and diplomatic or consular bags, or to governments, diplomatic missions and other posts the right to employ theses means in communicating with consular posts headed by honorary consular officers, except to the extent that the Union of Myanmar may have consented thereto in particular cases.

Furthermore, with regard to facilities, priviledges and immunities as provided by article 58, paragraph 2, the Government of the Union of Myanmar shall not accord exemption from registration of aliens and residence permits to consular posts headed by honorary consular officers.

Declaration on article 62 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, 1963 With regard to article 62, the Government of the Union of Myanmar shall not accord to consular posts headed by honorary consular officers exemption from customs duties and taxes on articles for their official use except to the extent that the Union of Myanmar may have consented thereto on the merits of each case.'
