Por ordem superior se torna público ter o Reino Unido da Grá-Bretanha e da Irlanda do Norte formulado junto do Secretário-Geral do Conselho da Europa, em 20 de Junho de 2005, a denúncia da Convençáo Europeia em Matéria de Adopçáo de Crianças, aberta à assinatura em Estrasburgo em 24 de Abril de 1967, acompanhada da seguinte carta:

Mr. Terry Davis, Secretary General of the Council of Europe:
Sir:
I have the honour, on instructions from Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, to refer to the European Convention on the Adoption of Children done at Strasbourg on 24 April 1967 and, in accordance with the provision of article 27, paragraph 2, of the Convention, to inform you that the Government of the United Kingdom hereby denounces the said Convention in respect of the metropolitan territory of the United Kingdom and the following territory for whose international relations the United Kingdom is responsible: the Isle of Man.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain an Northern Ireland will remain a State Party to the Convention in respect of the Bailiwikcs of Jersey and Guernsey, to which the Convention was extended by the United Kingdom and for whose international relations the United Kingdom is responsible.
I avail myself of this opportunity to renew to you the assurances of my highest consideration.
